Local Map
Getting to Rochdale by car is in fact very easy indeed. However it can be a touch misleading if you just follow the signs.
Exit the M62 at junction 20 signposted Rochdale, Oldham A627M . This brings you straight to a roundabout. Taking the turning marked Rochdale (1st exit if travelling from the West, or 3rd exit if travelling from the East).
Follow the dual carriageway to what was another roundabout, it is now a set of traffic lights, get into the left hand lane, should be a filter, this will take you under the Co-op bridge. You will be on another dual carriageway for approx 30 seconds, until you reach another roundabout (with Tesco on your left hand side). Get into the middle lane here, and take the second exit onto Roch Valley Way. This is now signposted for Spotland Stadium
Follow this road to the top until you get to a set of traffic lights (with the Cemetry Inn facing). Go straight through the lights (but only when they are green!) which takes you straight onto Sandy Lane itself. Follow the road round, and you will see the football ground on your right hand side.
From train station to Dale : Best bet is by taxi from Rochdale station - Town Taxi public hire vehicles are usually available ouside the station . Cost from here to Spotland will be in the £2-£3 region .Alternatively , If coming by train , have a look on nearby Drake St for THE NAVIGATION which sells Joseph Holt's real ales - excellent and the cheapest in the country . Further down Drake St at its junction with Oldham Rd is the CASK AND FEATHER , home of the McGuinness pub brewery . This is handily near a Streamline taxi rank - you're a fair trek from Spotland in this area of town .
The football site is very, very, very good and most of the details above were taken from the footy site. Give them a visit on the link below for alot more detail on visiting the ground
