Hornets team up for bright future
ROCHDALE Hornets are teaming up with Hopwood Hall College to offer a ground breaking rugby education-coaching programme.
The course, which is aimed at 16-19 year olds, is specifically designed to combine specialised rugby league coaching with the opportunity to gain educational qualifications.
Students can study, particularly in sport, up to Level Three with a view to progression on to university or into full time employment.
Candidates will receive rugby league coaching from professional coaches each week for the duration of the course. Courses will last for one or two years depending upon entry qualifications.
Candidates with four or more GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent) will be able to study for the National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development. Those with less than four grade Cs will follow the First Diploma in Sport course.
Students on the course will represent the college in the British Colleges under 19s student rugby league competition and will also be considered by Rochdale Hornets as potential players.
Anyone interested in enrolling for the course can apply by completing a Hopwood Hall college application form which can be obtained by contacting the college on 0161 643 7560. This will be followed by an invitation to attend the college for an informal interview.
The course will start later this month and places are limited. For further information contact Stacy Clews on 0161643 7560 ext. 3221 or Martin Hall on 01706648004.
