More on that earlier story, this time from the Rugby Leaguer & League Express.ROCHDALE Hornets' coach Martin Hall is urging promising young League players to take up a innovative opportunity at the NFP club.
Hornets are offering a combined course that sees inductees enrol on a National Diploma in Sports Coaching and Development while receiving coaching and training from Hall and Rochdale captain Matt Calland.
The initiative sees players training under Hall and Calland for four mornings a week, with their afternoon's being dedicated to the course - which is the equivalent of two A Levels - at Hopwood Hall college in Middleton.
Hopwood College has just completed extensive work funded by a lottery grant, that sees one of the largest indoor facilities house an extensive, fully-equipped gymnasium and boxing gym, as well as superb outdoor pitches.
And although there are no age restrictions on applicants, Hall is hoping that promising young players who enrol will help form part of the club's new Academy under-19s side, which will be launched next season.
"It's a great opportunity for not only Rugby League players, but any athletes that are interested in taking up the challenge," said Hall.
"People on the course will receive the full spectrum of training during the mornings and then delve fully into the aspects of the course in the afternoons. The facilities on offer here are top class.
"Ideally the players could then become involved in our Academy side and progress to signing professionally with the club."
Anyone interested in enrolling on the course should contact, in the first instance, Eve at Rochdale Hornets on 01706648004.
