Both Huddersfield Giants and Leigh Centurions will go into tomorrow’s Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final at Halton Stadium, Widnes (6.15pm) knowing that victory will see them promoted to the Tetley’s Super League for the 2003 season.

The Rugby Football League have confirmed that both Huddersfield and Leigh have complied with the criteria that is demanded of potential Grand Final winners to be promoted into the Tetley’s Super League.

Richard Lewis, the RFL’s Executive Chairman, said: “We’re delighted that both clubs have satisfied the requirements for Tetley’s Super League membership.

“Besides demonstrating that ambitious clubs within the Premiership can create the environment to qualify for promotion, this announcement will provide both Huddersfield and Leigh with every incentive to succeed in tomorrow’s Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final.”

The Rugby Football League have reported that the Northern Ford Premiership Grand Final, which is doubled-headed with the National League One Qualifying Final between Dewsbury Rams and Workington Town (4.00pm), is set to attract a record attendance.

Pre-event record ticket sales of 8,800 have ensured that last year’s record attendance of 8,974 could be beaten and a limited number of tickets will be on sale at Parkside Leisure, West Stand, Halton Stadium, Lowerhouse Lane, Widnes tomorrow. Spectators who wish to buy tickets are urged to reach the ground early to avoid disappointment.
