Balloon result
At last we are pleased to announce the result of our mega-balloon race.
We were hugely surprised by the number of tags that made it 'home' to Spotland. And they came from all over the country! Macclesfield, Walsall, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Southampton, Cornwall - you'd be surprised how far a balloon could travel in a little over a month!
We'd like to offer a huge thank you to everyone who bought a balloon. The race made over £800 for our club - a fantastic effort. And every penny will be invested in helping to develop our club.
A specially huge thanks to all the people who took the time to return the tags they found. Without you we wouldn't have a result!
Unfortunately, there can only be one winner - and the winner of this year's balloon race is balloon number 234 - the only one to make it outside of the UK! It was found on Omaha Beach in Normandy by brother and sister Anton (12) and Karolina ( 8 ) Teichman of Veitshoechheim in Germany. They will receive 70 Euros as the most distant finders (we didn't ever expect to be paying the prize in Euros!).
And the winning balloon was bought by Norman Halsall from the Tanners Arms in Rochdale, who wins £100.
Norman has generously donated his £100 back to the Nest Egg and we thank him very much for this kind gesture.
Thanks to everyone who made this event such a success
