Bobbie leaves Hornets - 'Mutual Consent' cited
We've learned in the last 30 minutes that Bobbie Goulding and Rochdale Hornets have parted company. We're told that it's by mutual agreement. Sean Gartland will take over as caretaker coach with immediate effect. The club has placed on the record its gratitude and recognition of the huge job that Bobbie's done in his time at Spotland. In a statement, the board says: "We are an ambitious club and we are keen to appoint a coach of similar calibre to maintain the momentum and build on the huge strides made over the last couple of seasons." A clutch of clubs in NL1 have set out their stall by taking the gamble on going full-time and it was clear that their big-spending was likely to leave smaller clubs struggling to match their levels of investment. Indeed, it's likely that all bar one of these clubs will end the season an awful long-way out of pocket as they stretch themselves in their quest for promotion. Speaking to rochdalehornets.com, a board spokesman said that, while they are no-less ambitious, thay have a responsibility to the fans, the community and the town to operate prudently and within the club's means. Obviously, I'm not in posession of all the facts, but as soon as I have details, I'll post them here.
