Darren's the man
Rochdale Hornets today(Tuesday) announced the appointment of Darren Abram as their new Head Coach.
Former Hornets centre Darren commences his role with immediate effect and he will hold his first training session with the team on Saturday. He is also meeting players this week to outline his plans and hopes for the forthcoming season.
Abram replaces Bobbie Goulding who parted company with Hornets two weeks ago and returns to coaching in LHF Healthplan National League One after experiencing the engage Super League with Leigh Centurions.
Abram has gone on records as saying "I am honoured and excited at having been offered the post at Spotland. Rochdale Hornets are a club that have made steady progress during the last two years under both Bobbie Goulding and Martin Hall."
He added "I recognise that I am joining Hornets during a new phase of their development following the sad losses of directors Paul Reynolds and Ray Taylor, but I'm excited at the prospect of working with the club on new ideas and initiatives."
"I have a squad of excellent players, many of whom I already know. Bobbie Goulding had done a tremendous job in re-signing the players that he has with the budget available and I am looking forward to the 2006 season".
Newly appointed Club Chairman David Vining commented that "I'm delighted with the calibre of people that applied for Head Coach's Role and tremendously excited as are the rest of the board to have appointed Darren. We can't wait for the season to start"
