Hornets’ coach Darren Abram is preparing for a battle as York search for their first LHF League One win on Sunday.

Abram watched his troops beat Celtic Crusaders 34-6 last weekend and he said: “The lads were a credit to the club.

“York will be a tough team this week. I know some of their players from having coached them in the past and they have a lot of experience.

“We need to be on our guard. They will be looking for their first win and will be feeling under some pressure to produce that win.”

Knights’ boss Mick Cook is hoping that full-back Matt Blaymire can get the all-clear on an elbow problem but Chris Spurr is still not ready to play.

James Elston (medial ligaments), Craig Farrell (hamstring) and Jamie Bovill (hip) will also miss this weekend’s trip to Rochdale.

Cook said: “Rochdale play the game at a very quick pace and that’s probably why they’ve lost so few games this year.

“They are a good side and they work hard for each other, but we’ll be getting a team together that we’re confident in and hopefully we can squeeze our first win of the campaign out this game.”
