Eric’s retirement
Saturday saw the end of an era at Hornets as Eric Armitage hung up his boots after 15 years of loyal service.

We all wish him well in his retirement.

James Stringer’s thoughts were “Most people measure 'clubmanship' and 'loyalty' by the people we see out on the field every week: players, coaches, bench staff. But often we forget the 'behind the scenes' people who perform absolutely vital roles outside of the spotlight. I'm amazed that Eric's only been there for 15 years - It's always felt like he's been a permanent fixture. All the best, mate.”

Mark Wynn had this to say “For most of those 15 years he single handily ran the office and lottery, worked hard, an honest man everyone trusted. I for one would like to wish him all the best, he will be missed.”

Mark Reynolds added “Eric had a real baptism of fire at Hornets. He joined the Club in late January 1991 and his first two games he worked on were Wigan at home in the cup and then Wigan at Home in the League working alongside the late Billy Sutcliffe.”

”I know that Ray Taylor and Paul Reynolds believed that the success of the Saturday Yankee (which was launched shortly after Eric started) was in no small part down to him. Happy Retirement.”
