The Rochdale Swarm(Update)
Mark Wynn reports on the launch of the Tag Merit League with the “Rochdale Swarm” as founder members.Went over last night (Thursday 31st January 2008) to the BARLA HQ for the launch of the Tag Merit League.
Really was an exciting thing to be involved in. The Tag Merit League is getting some great support from the RFL with some superb ideas put on the table.
First up the TML website is now up and running at http://www.tagmeritleague.co.uk/ with our own link, our logo is just temporary as Jim is doing us a new one.
One major initiative was that some of the Tag matches would be used as training for touch judges and refs in the use of microphones and ear pieces, i.e. like in the pro game. Not bad in my book!!
There have been promotional material, posters etc. made and there was a photo shoot for the press release about the Tag League.
But the most exciting announcement to come out of last night was that at the end of the season there would be a Tag Merit League select side who would then play Internationals matches against the French Tag Rugby League team also a match against the British Army Tag Rugby League side based in Germany (and possibly a German Select Tag Rugby League side)!!!
Now as this is the inaugural season and there is just seven teams in the League, there has to be a good chance that someone from our side has a chance to make the Select Side, how good would that be?
Anyone who hasn’t signed on yet if you collar Maria, Ste Mason or myself in the near future, we will all have the signing on forms.
